Since last years introduction of the Energy Eye™ product for inclusion into the Hawaiian Electric Company's (HECO) rebate for commercial users program it has been a much anticipated wait to get to this point.

It was originally the intention of Energy Eye™ to do the PTAC rebate testing with Ohana Hotels. Unfortunately when the product was first released last year there were many challenges to overcome at the potential test sites. Technical difficulties stemming from a recent Verizon wireless cellular installation and later installation specifics with the particular make of PTAC unit presented new challenges that hadn't been seen before by Energy Eye™.

Over the last year however Energy Eye™ has worked hard and gained a tremendous experience to overcome those obstacles. The latest release of the product has design specifics built in to prevent those installation specifics from creating problems. It has also helped to create a better and more robust product with an even wider range of applications and Energy Eye™ is very happy with that.

While in Hawaii this year Energy Eye™ successfully installed products to showcase the many installation specific updates. It is only a matter of scheduling before the testing can begin now and everyone is excited.

The HECO commercial rebate testing will help to prove the specific energy savings that Energy Eye™ can yield in that environment. Based on that experience they will be able to develop a more product specific tailored rebate for the customer. Based on their experience with the product it will be interesting to see the kinds of decision that Ohana makes towards implementing the Energy Eye™ product throughout more hotel properties.
